I like these ones, Zonealarm, Norton and McAfee. I use Norton on my Games PC.

Zonealarm is free and very good though.

I liked ZoneAlarm too, but there is some conflict with my Anti-virus, F-Secure, so they cannot work togeather. They cannot even be installed if the other is there. I did use Agnitum Outpost for a while too and I was quite happy with it. On the other hand, I don't know what makes a good firewall, except it's keeping things out. Anyone know about this or anything else?

These are the things I look for in a good firewall.

Hide ports.
Stop inbound and outbound unauthorised connections.
Easy to configure.
Good Customer service.

This site is good for testing firewalls http://grc.com/default.htm
ShieldsUp for testing inbound scans and probes
LeakTest for testing outbound connections.

XP firewall is good but fails the leak test
Norton is good but the Customer service is not too good.
McAfee has great Customer Service with online 24 support.

The only good firewalls are Norton Internet Security 2005 one, they lock all the troyans and updates are free for 2 years

But Norton Anti-Virus 2005 sucks, it really sucks ... so if you need a good anti virus, look for Kasper Spy :hide: :sniper:

Try the leak test here for it http://grc.com/default.htm
it will fail, well did when I tested it unless they have fixed it. Good for outbound though and if you have good virus software it will pick up any trojans that send things out anyway.

I have just tried the new McAfee one and did not like it, they have taken away a lot of the controls  .

If you want a good firewall that costs money, I would recommend Armor2Net firewall. It does have a 30-day free trial, if you would like to test it out. Otherwise, you can just get a hardware firewall as an alternative to software firewalls.

Ive used McAfee for several years now... i agree wiv u 009 that the new 1 is bad... but sum guy sent me a link to this site which was packed full of trojans and viruses, i was foolish enough and hasty enough to click on it without thinking and thus got spammed with internet windows. McAfee got everything but there were still a lot of programs 2 shut down
