As you noticed, I wrote prefered and not a MUST. The reason at the time was to try to minimize this kind of discussion for every new map. Mirrored maps are easier to game-test to figure out if they are balanced.

If a map is fair or not is in my opinion down to if it's balanced or not. A map can be un-mirrored and still balanced. batman points out in his 2nd post that you can compensate sides with diffrent weapons/armour. I agree about it.

Sides don't need to be mirrored to have a fair game. Teams will just need to learn how the map works and find tactics for both sides.

I think Ulti has a point though, maybe it's worthwhile to keep a record to see if one side is winning more often. However, you'd need a record of 25+ matches to be able to say anything, really. Maybe Ulti can create this list of observations?

the point is that you shouldnt have to test if a map is fair, anything which is unmirrored can't really be fair :shock: im surprised the NFBL didnt see that from the offset but theres no time like the present :wink:

yes. youre that wrong.


if youre not very clever, and youre making a map, make it mirrored, and yes, it should be fair.

if youre clever, and you want to make an interesting map, make it unmirrored, but still fair.

a perfect example of an unmirrored, but fair ctf map ---> ctf_casino

THIS MAP WAS NOT MADE AS A CTF MAP... now try looking at ur own pics urself -.- try thinking before posting a reply here, im not looking to be arguying with idiots who dont think before they post

are you trying to say that you have to be an idiot not to p-jump? because i can see that thats where this thread is going... the point is that the map was not designed to be a CTF map and thus it is not mirrored.

i am a map creator, if you want to make an interesting CTF map you add slightly different and interesting touches to each side... im currently making a CTF map and i can guarantee u that its unlike anything u've played before :razz:

i dont like the new maps... most new maps are too big/difficult etc... ctf_bulgaria for example its good you cant p_jump flag to flag but i dont know eh its so difficult to get flags in that map... in one nfbl match css vs fur we played 30 mins + 10 mins to get 1 ******* flag with damn luck
well casino is one of the most played maps in scrims / wars etc. i dont think it would be a good idea to change something in the map or to take this map out of nfbl

well i thought that what the NFBL wanted was fair play...

if people cant CTF without p-jump then im scared... this isnt the game i remember :shock: but ye... bulgary isnt too easy... the layout of the map is rather compact so its difficult to avoid combat :sniper:

i just think that the NFBL should be a little more inclined to accept new maps which are more fair than old ones :shock:

casino is rather fun to play but i dont think it should be used by the NFBL

why dont u just mod casino like move the guns easier to get for blue side and make everyone download the update then its fine. and ive seen j4 pjump thru red base and out

anyways none of the maps in things like cs are mirrored so i dont see whats the problem. Different strategies for different sides. The side is not going to cause u to lose, its the players.

I got an idea, put 6 bots on each time evenly out on casino and most points in 30 wins but than switch sides for the bots to see who wins...its fair

bots play different than players do, so it's useless to put bots in.

I 100% agree with j4, sides don't make you lose but the players..
