DSS2 problem.

Postby Ricecooker. on Tue Jul 22, 2008 12:47 am

hi i am trying to host a dss2 server but it doesn't show up on the server list, only on lan. i have a router but have already forwarded the ports http://i33.tinypic.com/2yzkcbr.jpg my sv_lan is set to 0 in the server file, i have put bond and dss2 as exceptions on my firewall, i also have a dynamic ip. when i start the server under "no IPX support" which is apprantly normal it says "server IP address loopback". fur zero says on his server it does not say that so thats what i think is the problem. any help with this would be appreciated.

I'm no expert, but maybe your ports are blocked

Read ;D

" i have a router but have already forwarded the ports "

Ontopic:
Are you sure your ports are forwarded properly?
Is 192.168.1.2 really your local ip? ( start - run - cmd - ipconfig /all )

The one thing I noticed is that even though my Lynksys is 192.168.1.1, your ports need to be 192.168.1.101 or 102...103 etc. When you start up the server with NAT or DSS, you will see in the smaller white window that comes up, Server IP Address:

It will be 192.168.1.2xx either 200, 201 or higher. But that's the number you need to enter, not just 2.

Hope that works for you.

You shall attach your network adapter IP to a static local IP number, and then link the ports from the router to it.

You might have that enabled already, but to check it, go to control panel, network connections, go to the LAN adapter that connects to the internet, and enter its properties. on the list, select Internet Protocol (TCP / IP) and press Properties.

If "Obtain an IP address automatically" is selected, then you got to change it, select "Use the following IP address" and then write the IP, subnet mask and default gateway that is using your adapter right now (Control Panel->Network Connections->Double click in your internet connection->"Support\details" tab), the IP must start with 192.168.

Once you done that, go to router properties and redirect the ports to the IP you wrote in the configs before.

ok in the net adpter i filled in ip address, subnet mask, and default gateway, i then went into my router and tried to do the same thing... http://i36.tinypic.com/mkerza.jpg as you can see it said it was an illegal value but it matches the default gateway that i found under local area connection in network connections....

You should not change anything about IPs in your router, only in your pc. Now, after you did that, you shall go to Games & Applications as ulti said, and then attach the redirected the ports of NF to your local IP

ok i did that.. http://i33.tinypic.com/2r77nko.jpg but my server still doesn't show up. in my adapter > properties there is a blank spot under "use the following IP address" to fill in preferred DNS server and alternate DNS server... should those be filled in?
