1. I think you'd have to run the server from DSAS, not from in Nightfire. Sounds like DSAS is a dedicated server (although personally I use DSS 'cause it's much easier

); dedicated servers and normal servers are different, check out this page:
EDIT: http://www.009.web-fun.net/nightfire/faq.shtml#10
Normal servers run from within Nightfire, dedicated ones run on their own, utilising your PC's full power, RAM etc. If you want to play along, I recommend a normal server as running a Ded + Nightfire is like running two Nightfires at once.
2. In DSS there is a .dll patch which restricts the console commands available to players; another reason why I prefer it.

I don't think you'll be able to download DSS now though, since last I heard glovi.net was down too.
3. Edit mapcycle.txt in your Nightfire/bond directory I think; if you don't have the file, create it.
4. Sounds like you may be trying to run the wrong file. Are you doing this with DSAS? With Vista you'll need to set the program to run as Admin, trust me.

Also, make sure you run the .exe and not anything else.
5. Once again, run in Admin mode.

Running NF with Admin and compatibility mode with XP also helps if you can't see the starting videos: right click your Nightfire icon, choose Properties, then the Compatibility tab, then enable XP compatibility and Admin mode.
