Connecting to any server

A friend on NF is having trouble joining servers.

So far it's mind boggling. She was able to play one day, then after no apparant changes to the computer, cannot join any servers either through GameSpy or the NF game itself.

She's reinstalled everything, tried not installing GameSpy. She's allowed NF through her firewall. We replaced the config file hoping that was the problem.

Nothing is working and she cannot connect, if using Gamespy, the list shows up and she tries to connect and it says server not responding. On the NF game, updating the server list, nothing shows up at all (Yes, she's pressing internet)

Any ideas? Anything is helpful

perhaps a new router or other piece of hardware is causing the problem, check for recent changes.

is she using xp or vista?

There's women in Nightfire and for the most part, they're usually better than most of the guys.

What happens when she runs it out of Gamespy, ie trying first player?

My video card seems to break without any sign, and its not obvious from trying to join a game anything is wrong at all, it just fails.

She told me she can play on a server she creates with bots and can play single player, but every server on-line says not responding after loading forever.

Any router or firewall(possibly p2p h8n isp) blocking/tunelling/slowing it?

It's most likely a router type problem since nothing was changed with the computer. Have you tried power cycling the router? (ie. unplug and re-plug the power) That works a lot with mine. You may also have to un-block Nightfire ports through the router (http://www.009.web-fun.net/test/status.php, 5th troubleshooting option tells you the ports and gives a link to a page which explains how to unblock on a million different routers )

Again, XP or Vista? In Vista run it with XP compatibility and admin priveliges (Properties -> Compatibility).

She has informed me that she reset her router and is back in the games.

im happy thes equestions can be answered without me cuz i dont know much about routers etc 'allow in in firewall, router and any other thing that might try blocking it'
