It is nice to see a discussion about the subject, because it's been a while since it was discussed the last time.
The increased strategies argument is not so good, because ronins would limit the gameplay too... It sometimes acts as a 5th player, so there are less demands on the 4 real ones = less need for strategy.
In maps like romania, you can put a lot of ronins at the base and they can be placed in ways it's not possible to take them out with e.g. sniper from distance from a single place, before the defenders have killed you.
It is not possible (atm?) to limit ronins to 1 per team, because it would be impossible to let players take that responsibility. It's impossible to detect in server-log if a team has more then 1 active ronin. If it was up to players in servers to make sure no team uses more then 1 ronin, it would never work. It would also create a lot of arguing during the matches.
There is not really any good things about allowing ronins into NFBL atm, at least not in my eys as no arguments have been very good (yet). Maybe if it's possible to limit, via server-settings, to 1 ronin/team, it's intresting to look at again.
