Nightfire Server Loading Time?

Postby floginz on Mon Dec 31, 2007 3:51 pm

Hey everyone, im having no problems with nightfire but I want to decrease the loading time for nf, like when you connect.

Is there anyway you can do that?

Thanks :)

It takes around 40-50 seconds to load up, but on my old computer (my bros got now) it took like 10 seconds.

Is it just nightfire which connects that long? Because Halo doesnt for sure.

it depends on the map size and the connection and the speed of the HDD(s) and the GPU

detail of the map, size of the map and size of the host's game.dll all come in to play when joining a server

floginz you should not believe what all people say, he's probably saying a lie. With 3 seconds he may mean his impression about it, and then, it is subjective.

I had Vista with a 1gb of ram and 2gb of ram too, in laptops. The difference is huge, so 1gb is still tiny memory for a big resource eater such as Vista, try disabling Aero effects or choosing the classic windows theme if it goes too slow.

By the way, laptops are usually slower, and specially if their Hard disk is small, try emptying space on disk too.

Oh and since Vista has DirectX 10, it only includes a DirectX 9 emulator for old games, that might be the reason of the decrease of performance in Nightfire, that uses DirectX 8.

If you lower the quality down, that helps, right?

Mr Nightfire, I hope you enjoy your speed because I don't care at all.

And I agree with smith, if you want Nightfire to be running smoothly, install windows 98 and no prob

Mr.Nightfire Tres was only trying to help no need to get "aggresive" and insult ppl.
As for my solutions they aren't much differnt from the rest:
1.You might reinstall Operating system (XP or w/e)
2.Try installing latest drivers for your computer as well as DirectX
3.Get a new computer and a better internet connection

Check Device Manager for Drivers, wouldn't Video Drivers have a lot to do with that problem?

I didnt know u had vista... Install an older version of windows if ur that desperate for faster loading. Close all other programs and make sure ur nightfire is getting all the resources it needs...

Tres i was only trying to help

with my old dell i often closed a lot of processes before starting nightfire and i always had to close MSN and GSA or i would lag to hell but i very rarely lagged out
