Some of this was previously discussed in the Spectrum mod thread (http://009.web-fun.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=12670#12670).

I have decided that when I have finished planning out the full storyline (I'm slowly getting there :grin:), if Activision decide not to make the game then I will begin to develop it myself in Valve's Source SDK.

I was wondering if anyone out there would be interested in helping to develop a new bond game? :grin:

The main thigs I would need help with would be the modelling (I have no idea how to make models, plus I don't have a modelling program anyway :confused:) and although I can make maps myself I don't think I'll be able to make every single level for the entire game. :) Music writers would also be welcome.

When I finish the full storyline I will post it here. Meanwhile, anyone who would like to help in developing *if* Acti can't be stuffed please reply or PM me.

OK thx, I'll mark you down. I'll contact people after I've tried Acti so you may not hear anything about this for a little while.

Just downloaded nearly 2GB of software including Visual C++ Express, DirectX SDK, Platform SDK and Windows SDK. This better work for compiling code...

You never know... I took one look at Hammer several months ago and thought "This is way too complicated!" I took another look later, still didn't understand it, then one day I opened it up and everything just seemed easy...weird.

What are your "Expertees," so to speak? :smile: Mapping, modeling, sounds etc.

that would be in the region of textures zer0 :razz:

i can do any 3D designing and usually can do textures too... just as long as i have the right programs :confused: sounds usually include stealing from other places so im probably not so good there :grin:
theres only 1 thing i can really donate and thats my MP5, if you have an idea for a map i can make then im more than willing but i need a basic plan and probably some nice textures first cuz i cant start from scratch on 'a courtyard' lol :grin:

MP5 model would rock. :grin: I already have plans to put one in the game so your model would work well. The only thing is that it needs to be a .mdl file compatible with the Source engine; I've tried opening up Nightfire files with the Source Model Viewer with no success.

When I have finished the storyline, I'll post it here and on the site (007refraction.co.nr). After that, I'll probably get some map plans and stick them somewhere, but anyone wanting to map would have to get the Source SDK first. If you're wondering, Ulti, the Half Life 2 textures are found as default by Hammer when you make a map under the HL2 game settings, so textures should be no problem as long as you've got something vaguely HL2-ish.

If people haven't already got Steam, HL2 and the SSDK, there is some standalone version compiled by someone (http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ru&u=http://game.vsi.ru/forum/showthread.php%3Ft%3D7106&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=8&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dcsm%2Bsource%2Bsdk%26hl%3Den%26rls%3DGGLJ,GGLJ:2007-43,GGLJ:en-GB). Only problem is, I'm not entirely sure whether it's legal...

shouldnt be too difficult for u zero :shock:

the MP5 was made in milkshape which can save HL1 SMDs (which can be converted to nighfire SMDs) and HL2 SMDs (which include vertex weights) i just need to know what kind of movements the MDL will be required to perform itself, in current games the weapon MDLs don't have any preset movements so i think it should be ok as it is...

the nightfire entities are similar to the source engine entities so changing may simply be a case of swapping FGD :wink:

If your MP5 could be reworked for the source engine that would be great. :grin: Also, since I'm building the first level and don't even have Bond's pistol, I could really do with a decent PP7 model for Source. Any help is much appreciated; I've only got as far as the barrel and the handle, both pretty primitive. :smile:

Does anyone know how to use the cordon tool in Hammer 4 properly? My cursor keeps coming up with the 4-pronged-arrow cursor when I try to set the cordon bounds.

Apart from that (and a suspiciously long time vvis-ing) all is going well. The lighting is looking amazing; all I need to do is put the correct props in the correct rooms and connect map 01 up properly to map 02 and I'll have the first mission completed, except for Bond and his weapons and Bond-type NPCs, of course.
