Trouble watching cut-scenes in Windows Vista

Postby floginz on Tue Nov 27, 2007 8:16 pm

Hey everyone, I recently got a new Windows Vista laptop, and whenever a cut scene (level transition videos), I see a white screen and I can hear the audio fine. I can watch other AVI videos on my computer, so is it my disc courupted with the scenes when i installed, or is it a Codec that I need?

I tred the Indio (i think thats what it is) on NORULEZ.net but it said it was only for the Windows XP Operating System.

Can anyone help? Thankyou for reading my post, god bless you (lol)

Then you must find an Indeo codec compatible with Windows Vista. Neither Vista or XP includes that codec and they must be installed separatedly.

Because he might have installed the indeo codec, plus there are some applications/games that install it automatically, not like nf

I have Vista, those cutscenes work fine, do you have the cutscenes removed or something?

What is the Windows Experience Score btw?

I suggest you just change back to XP ...XP is much beter and programs are made to run on it whilst Vista is still new and some programs have problems with compatibility....It will take a while till programs will be compatible with it..

Thing is, my laptop can play AVI files, (i made a custom NF_intro for my Festive Edition MOD) so i dont know.

And the icon for the videos in the nightfire/movies directory just say AVI on them with a film sheet thing as the background, but the NF_intro i made showed an image of it so I dont know, and btw, shut it about my going back to XP, vista is great for me and i have had no errors.

all i see thats new in Vista is round buttons, built in virus protection system, bugs with XP programs, problems with old games, and DX10...

DX10 is probably the only reason i would considder getting vista at all... I have XP Pro, a very effective anti-virus and an 8800GT so i really dont wana waste a heck of a lot of money on a new OS just for the ability to run DX10... ill only do that when i have some DX10 games
