DSS2 Crashes Constantly

Postby [George] on Sat Nov 03, 2007 1:23 pm

Almost everytime I try to host with DSS2, after a few minutes or so, I always get this message.

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r280 ... eption.png

As you can see, the server still stays up, but the server is no longer connected to DSS2. DSS2 can still be used to control the server in some ways, eg: change the password using the password box in the top right corner.

But the console in DSS2 stops doing anything, and the player list isnt updated. Commands like !time, !help, !kick, etc. dont work.

What is a "Thread exception"? And why does it always pop up after a few minutes of the server being up?

By the way I think the "Players Info" button is great ;p

EDIT: The "Thread exception" thing also crashes the server as well sometimes.

I think I'm responsible in this issue , that thread exception happens when DSS should have had a crash, and this is part of the memory reading. I don't have much information about that exception, so I may have to talk to you through msn and stuff, so I can see why does that happen to your pc

yeh 009 and ford are specialised in similar areas and lithium also knows(knew) a lot about the DLLs / BSPs so he make the first modded map and CMM

i rarely use DSS (at least im using it more than i used to  ) but i still find my hosting program a bit simpler to use and less complicated than DSS... i have only encountered problems with the NFBSP client in IIC chat or something like that... it crashes often and when slippy kicked me from the room it crashed too... i told tres and now he's removed that chat facility  i want a more stable one

and if dss2 is crashing this much, for this many people, is it the right thing to do to bring it in to the nfbl until its fixed? ;s

I am concerned about this kind of crashes, I have my own crash reporting system and I see when this kind of errors appear. But now, lots of people say now that dss crashes, etc.. And I had a big group of beta testers and all said that it worked very good and it had no problems....

well, I am sure it's a small problem, and I can see why does it happen.

Ulti I know that your server maker rocks, why don't you uninstall dss and leave me alone?

By the way, I'm having probs with my pc now so I might not fix those issues that fast.

Ultimatesniper, why don't you explain here the problems you had and how you solved them?, it would be very helpful for other people and it won't make me crazy again...
