As you probably all know there have been 3 versions of dm_battlefield released so far. Now i am planning to make a 4th version of it which will include some more stuff and secrets. The middle hall - which was very wide and open in the former version will be divided in different parts with walls now. There will be interesting ways and stuff and i am planning to get it in NFBL :) It will get another name than dm_battlefield4 for NFBL use - dont worry :cool: .

Tell me your opinions about the Battlefield Maps and a 4th version of it becoming a NFBL map. I am curious about your answers. :grin:
P.S. If anybody wants to help me testing it just contact me :wink:

I voted nothing yet,

I never see a dm_battlefield server up (maybe once a month lol)
I never played any dm_battlefield so I don't can give my view about the maps. But when it is a great map, I bet more servers wud be up with it:P?

im all for new nfbl maps, and i like the previous dm_battlefield maps a lot.. but i also havnt voted yet, as i cant say whether or not i want it in nfbl until ive actually seen it lol..

however, if you have huge secret areas like in dm_battlefield3, then i dont think it will be good for nfbl..

There will be spawn points and much more connections between the areas ;) The labyrinth upstairs will be connected with the first floor and there will be no huge secret area ;) Just some tricky things but not that hard to find out :)

- the first version was 1 big square, nice for 1 vs 1 but not for NFBL
- the second version was 1 big square with some rooms next to it
- the third version was way 2 big for its own good and it turned into some kind of fun map and there were only spawnpoints in the main room..
- change the whole concept of the big room, divide it like you said and add way more spawnpoints ( not like plant and tokyo.. ) and remove the 'fun' part and secrets.. we dont need secret rooms you can camp/hide. its a nice way to kill the map in that way..

yes, stick with small secrets.. eg: the hidden ladder leading to the pdw in dm_battlefield2, but dont put too many in. any bigger or more complicated a secret and it just ruins the maps ability to deliver decent possiblities for matches/scrims.

I occsaionally look at ctf_safe as a plausible NFBL map but then i look back on the fairness of the flag positions xD

ctf_safe is ok for NFBL in my view as it has small secret areas which are easy to find, it isn't too big, it is an interesting and varied map and it has a large range of possible weapons that are in their best environments (sniper for long-range, commando for medium range and pdw/shotgun for short range etc...).

Try to vary your map's layout, colours, room size and colours so that it may be good for all players/weapons :wink:

nah safe is ridiculous for nfbl, you just go up the stairs to the roof, p jump through flag and off the edge, and have your team mates pick up the flag at the bottom (as you die) and its impossible for the guys to get the flag back, as they cant jump off after it without dieing..

I can't pronounce myslef as I havent played any version yet.I prefer sticking to the basic maps till I know every corner of them and then get to addon maps.But I WISH ya good luck with em!

yeh i did try to make a box which would keep the flag in the sky so that nobody can get it until its returned automatically, when i made the map i didnt know how to do that... now i do :grin:

can we see screen shots of your map(s)? it may help with our decisions :grin:

although also having the other flag in an open field means its incredibly hard to defend, specially as you can enter the field from 3(?) different places.. maybe this would actually even the map out lol.. best way to find out would be to do test scrims in it :P

bf3 so far is looking like bf2, but with lots of changes (more stuff, more areas, different ways to get to places)

casino isnt symetric either... well the pull shows that you need some advertiseing i think ;p when people start scrimming in the map, we can find out if its fair or not

casino i think is biased, the red base is smaller and more compact than the blue teams however, the red team has a lot of weapons and spawns are almost all right next to flag... usually being able to get weapons is a better advantage then having an open base in which you can easily get spawnkilled but can still shoot... the problem with the blue 'advantage' is that when people jump across the stairs to get out of blue base u cant hit them from the middle of the large room :shock:
