a lil worse than that  but activision has the bond license now  (i dont think their next bond game will have as good physics  )

Try making the storyline/movie on nightfire first and if people like it then you might want to appeal to GBX/Acti

Hey, it's not as if it's going to be a multi-million commercial game project. The enemies will all be new (I was planning that anyway); however, I'm not sure what I'll do if I'm not even allowed to use "Bond" as a character.

I'm currently back at school in our library , so when I get home I'll take a look at the EULA or whatever it is I never bother to read, and see what it says about characters.

My first "release" will probably be a multiplayer "skirmish", so to speak, where it's you against computers. Just to see what people think, how fast the game runs etc.

From what you said, rather GBX

lol

I tried searching for some kind of EULA but I couldn't find anything. Maybe I'll email GBX If I somehow get their address.

Don't expect the game to be finished too quickly, I have a lot of other commitments at the moment (school, homework, limits on computer time () etc...) I've ended up making programs for teachers to use with SMART Boards (W00T), they now regard me as a kind of god. lol

I hade a brainwave last night...

I have been thinking for a long time: what a great game it would be if Nightfire could be played on the Nintendo Wii! No doubt some people somewhere are developing an FPS for the Wii, but I haven't heard anything at all about one yet.

I have been using Silent Walk FPS Creator for a while (made with Game Maker w00t!), just to get a test game that runs a bit quicker than the GC FPS Creator. However, it's got a bit tiring so I've not done a lot for a while. Also, I've had loads of other commitments like a massive presentation thing for open evening last Tuesday, so not much progress has been made.

Last night, I was wondering about Black Ice and I suddenly thought: what if I develop my storyline fully, sort out the different settings and control type things for the Wii (plan what type of controls you would use to aim, move etc) and send an email to EA? :?:

How about it! I'd be able to tell them what makes us gamers tick, what's great and what's annoying etc, and maybe they could create the best game for the best console ever!!

Then again, it's just a thought...

if you do do that, remember to somehow make proof that you were the one who did it, or EA games will just nick your ideas and give you no credit

They do, but I wrote something in Game Maker specifically for the open day.

Anyone got any thoughts on what they enjoy in an FPS? What makes it good, bad etc. I'll send the email of in a bit so tell me what you think.

new guns  use my MP5 model plz
pinpoint aim... leave the aiming down to the skill of the player

when i hold a gun i look to see the movements the gun makes as i hold it and after its repeated once or twice i know where to hold it and when to pull the trigger... on games these days its just random movements which makes it rather stupid...

Updated the storyline:

Code: Select all
“A crystal has been created by NASA using newly discovered particle combinations from Mars, the details having been relayed back to Earth via the Odyssey Probe. It is pure black, cold and surprisingly light to the touch and any light that falls onto it is absorbed in a peculiar way. Its most interesting property, however, is that when a focussed laser beam is shone through the crystal, anything it hits has its mass neutralised to light particles and waves.

“This crystal, nicknamed 'Black Ice', is subject to great interest throughout the scientific industry in America, as it provides vital information for the research into Einstein's Theory of Relativity.

“Unfortunately, soon after transmitting the crystal's data back to Earth, the Odyssey Probe came across a violent sandstorm and has stopped responding to signals. Scientists can only assume it has been destroyed. Consequently, it would be a tragedy if either the crystal or the vital particle construction data was lost.

“Ordinarily, MI6 would not concern itself with matters outside of the United Kingdom. However, the NASA Scientists operate closely with some of the leading space research organisations here in Britain and we have been called upon to investigate reported suspicious activity.

“A silent alarm was tripped at the Ames Research Centre in Calif where the crystal's data was kept; NASA believes that that the burglar's aim was to make a copy of it. Luckily, night patrol staff at the centre were able to gave an accurate description of the trespasser, which has matched up with the appearance of George Harland, a man who was a known American associate of a company called Ionova. However, it is unknown whether Ionova still employ him.

“Ionova is an English company which designs and manufactures optical devices such as CD ROM drives, optical mice and cameras. It also specialises in equipment for laser eye surgery and sells to opticians and hospitals around the world. Its administrator, Julian Vanesh, became an entrepreneur at the age of 21, developing a new type of computer processor which transmitted data as light and was capable of revolutionising the computer industry. Unfortunately, a large fire destroyed Vanesh's laboratory, the cause of which is still unknown, and all the research was lost.

“MI6 have been investigating Vanesh's movements since the January of 2006, when he held a conference for his company in Germany; 5 investigative journalists died on a plane headed back for America when its GPS system malfunctioned and the plane crashed into the Atlantic Ocean. The journalists had criticized Ionova at the conference for being “Environmentally unfriendly” when disposing of their products.

“Another man named Michael Nortan was fired from his job as Ionova's Chief Public Relations Executive after allegations were made to him about an affair with Mr. Vanesh's wife, Caroline. His body was found two weeks later in Scotland inside a mangled car, although his family insist it wasn't his.

“Recently, Ionova has announced that they will be holding a press conference in London to show off their newest piece of equipment, the Threadcutter. Apparently it is a microscopic laser designed for keyhole surgery and is set to speed up operations, make them safer and less painful. Bond, we would like you to attend this conference under the cover of a rich businessman and try and keep tabs on Vanesh. A CIA agent, Miss Briant, will meet with you there.

“Bring back any information you can on Vanesh's next movements, but don't lose your cover. Good luck, 007.”

I don't think absolute pinpoint accuracy is the way to go, we want to make it a bit challenging; BUT I do certainly agree that guns should be more accurate than they are in most games. *Stand right next to the wall, shoot, bullet mark appears a metre above you, WTF?!*

What I was thinking of was something similar to CS:S (which I am officially addicted to :) lol) in terms of the crosshairs, except include the dot in the middle (I hate big spaces in crosshairs). The bullets are as accurate as the space in the crosshair, which gives you a good indication of the accuracy of the gun straight off.

When you say "The mod," do you mean Spectrum or Black Ice?

Anyway, thanks for the positive feedback!
