Spectrum Mod

Postby herbius on Sun Jul 22, 2007 10:54 am

Hi,

I'm working on a new mod called Spectrum. It's mainly changing Nightfire's GUI to make it easier to use and to make it look nicer. I might also get around to custom scripts, server scripts etc.

Just wanted to know what people thought. Here's a few samples:

Missile Ticks

Image
Crosshair

Image
AT-420 Sentinel ammo

Image
Militek MGL ammo

Image
Battery outline

All made in MS Paint and transparencised in Serif PhotoPlus.

Responses, good or bad, much appreciated.

P.S. If anyone knows how to distribute this without the user having to download the whole assets.007 file, please let me know! Thx.

mh just make an installer that puts the textures on their directories, like bond\textures or bond\gui\frontend
Nightfire reads first the external files than the assets.007

OK, thats cool. Never knew that.

Would it work if I only put the textures there? e.g. Read textures from directories; maps, models etc not there; read maps, models etc from assets?

Just checking.

if you install cft_office1 to a folder on desktop you will see how the file structure should look you will need use the registry keys to make installer do it automaticly [it finds the bond directory and puts the folders and files there]
this is better because clients have game instaled in different local discs so manual targeting is hit and miss eg my game instaled to "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Nightfire"
with the registry method it cant be wrong

looks cool. Try to put it in an auto-unzip or, if you want it easily removable, InstallAware works well, and it has no expiry date so you can always use it

But i wish there would be a transparant texture in paint

OMG so do I!

PhotoPlus has weird glitches (moving main picture up to top corner once transparencised), so doing anything takes twice as long. Still, even stuck in a flat at Tollesbury marina, connecting by Wi-Fi, I'm getting there... I 've had limited time cause we're on holiday but I've managed to iron out loads of bugs.

Good point Gill.

I'm getting there, after coming back from holiday I've sorted out several problems with the frontend. One thing which is bugging me is that there is a white box around the weapon ammo:
Image
This used to be blue but I changed the colour values in the color.txt file. Whatever I put, I can't seem to get rid of it.

Apart from that, almost finished, just some more sounds and music to collect. :)
