READ my last post, i think i got to quote it :S
DSS depends entirely from sv_serverlog on

Entirely means entirely. And little do I realise if you use it or not, you made your own server maker, so you would like more yours, right?

we were talkin abt PC specs, so wat? processors are getting 2 dual core 3GHz now

and tres doesnt it depend partially on the speed of the HDDs?

(i currently have an ATI RADEON X1600SE which was well described by ford as:
SE=Sh*tty Edition :cry: )

Edit:

Well i'd like to use mine but as you say, DSS allows you to do enter a large range of commands. CDSP allows you to pre-customize and pre-set 4 different dedicated servers and launch them (all at once if needed). It also has an option for entering custom commands for options which may not already be on the program.

Don't begin comparing cdsp with dss because both programs have different aims. CDSP, as you said, is a multi server maker with customisable start options.
DSS can run more than one server if you got more than one nightfire installation in PC, but appart from that, DSS's aim is introduce new functions and features to nightfire servers that would improve mainly the administration of the servers and getting the job done easily.

Currently there are many many server makers and configurers like CDSP (NAT, CDSM, DSAS...),which offer different ways of configuring and administrating servers. DSS is hybrid, it's a server maker and it's a server script.

:flamr: :hide:
Still haven't tried it yet, but DSS looks like the way to go, but just to throw a spanner in the works NAT is customisable too and with NUS adds short server commands so  .

For running a stand alone server though the graphics card should not and issue and old 2 -8 mb one would do just as well, for playing though I would go with NVIDIA (don't like Radeon for games)

(what do u like radeon for? )

I was merely speculating how my serv becomes laggy and this happens after serv has been open a long time wiv log on.

Ill prob use DSS in the future tho if u end up managing what u said u'd do

Ulti, why do you talk about something you don't know?, Do you predict future or try hacking my brain?. If so, I think you are wrong
I'm improving DSS everyday, it's my most active project, and I release a new version when I think its convenient.
Plus i'm developing the second version of DSS with special functions client-server (client is map downloader, which will be renamed to NFBSP client) and server is, of course DSS. I won't mention all new functions because I prefer it as a surprise ;), but it will be impressive for sure.
Both programs will autoupdate when I release their respective versions.

Please keep your flaming anywhere else then in the forum... It does not provide anything positive to the topic about DSS. Tres stated he's working on new features, then it doesn't matter what he did or didn't do on other projects. He is human so can't do everything he'd like to do. What's the big deal about that? That is the normal situation for all people with any kind of ambitions for anything in life. You simply can't do everything...

That discussion is over.

This is a typical comment for a PM, but this time it's public so not more people is taking this topic further off-topic...

i know every human is human
i was just proving how eagle was wrong, everyone has conceptual projects which they dont have time for/never managed to finish (even me  ) i respect how tres spends his available programming time wisely on DSS

Just started to use DSS.. very interesting, very nicely laid out and such.

few problems though.. wondered if you could help.

1. How to use commands like !shutup !whois while not in game?

2. Can you use commands like !shutup !whois etc with a player id? (some names are hard/impossible to type out)

3. How do you change the number of votes to changelevel/kick a player, and does this number have something to do with amount of people in the game at the time/maxplayers?

4. When you join the game using "Join the server" button, can you get console while in game after using this?

5. When I used it I was told there was only battery power up in the game (CTF_Romania) although i had only deselected skull.. however, it was fine in other maps (CTF_Dust, CTF_Office, etc.)

think thats all for now, but ill probably remember something later lol

oh, and not sure if its to do with DSS, but when i used DSS to download some maps, i didnt get any textures with dm_lockdown.. so it was just a load of white.. :s however, dm intel_inside and surf_greatriver etc worked perfectly (nice work on intel inside btw)
