Wireless Dedicated Server

Postby Noginz on Sun Apr 29, 2007 5:11 pm

Ok, im a noob at this kind of stuff but im willing to make a dedicated server. Mabye for mine and my mates clan for an addition.
Ok so, Ive been on the 009 site and seen this page for making a dedicated server manually. I cba to do NAT.
Ok, so im wondering, if I do what it says on the screen, will it dissconnect all other people on my wireless network?
Some people have said that you cannot make a server being connected to the wireless router, but other people use wireless ones.

So will it dissconnect all other people on my network or not?

A reply is much appriciated. Ok bye

I don't have a router so probably not best person to reply, but it should work if it's wireless or standard cable.

The dedicated server for Nightfire is just the software side running on your PC. That will communicate to your router and then the internet. The only time people should disconnect from your network is when the up/down link gets interrupted, either by your ISP getting cut off or your wireless router/nic stopping working.

What message do you get on the screen for this part?

Ok, so im wondering, if I do what it says on the screen, will it dissconnect all other people on my wireless network?

no it shouldn't do, what do you have in your bat file? could you post it here using the code button above ^ when your typing a message.

It should just start your server and a window will appear on your screen. As long as the router is set up to accept NF ports you should get people joining your server.

Another question is who are the other people on your network? are they in your house or are you running another server type program like P2P where people are connected to it?

no it doesnt you idioto. hosting for nightfire is nothing else then opening your computer trough the router to let other people play on your pc ( kinda like that ). so theres no harm to the othger people, the only thing that may happend is that the internet for the other users will get slower.

( yea i got wireless 2 )

ZERO wrote:In your config is also the sv_lan 0 setting. Be shure it's here also 0 (and not 1).
You can find your config here; C:\Documents and Settings\Computer\Local Settings\Application Data\Gearbox Software\Nightfire\bond (be shure you can see hidden files/maps otherwise you can't find it)

If your running more than one server? you need to allocate different ports for each one, also have you set the ports up in your router?
