problem with server list?

Postby toby on Mon May 09, 2005 4:18 pm

i just found out why i can't host dedicated servers with this, ipx

but i want others to check my list cos it is diff to how it is on the 099 faq, and a bit more

:: ONLY EDIT THE MAXPLAYERS IN THIS FILE!
:: Max amount is 32, minimum is 1.
start/w bond.exe -dedicated 1 -noipx +maxplayers 19 +exec startmap.cfg
that is the file dedserv

// http://www.009nightfire.2ya.com//

// ***********MAP CYCLE FILE FOR NIGHTFIRE? DEDICATED SERVER*********//

// Use as many maps as you like with or without the extra commands.//
// See the Instructions for more information!//

// ctf_austria //
// ctf_island //
// ctf_japan //
// ctf_jungle //
// ctf_knox //
// ctf_office //
// ctf_romania //
// ctf_tower //
// ctf_space_station //
// dm_austria //
// dm_casino //
// dm_caviar //
// dm_island //
// dm_japan //
// dm_jungle //
// dm_knox //
// dm_maint //
// dm_office //
// dm_power //
// dm_istanbul //

ctf_knox // "/mp_timelimit 25/" //
ctf_island // "/mp_timelimit 20/" //
ctf_japan // "/mp_timelimit 29/" //
ctf_office // "/mp_timelimit 20/" //
ctf_romania // "/mp_timelimit 25/" //
but i want something a bit different
each of those maps but i want each to have 19 mins each and 19 players max(which is said in the other file) and
knox - kill limit 50
island - captures core limit 70
japan - time limit 15
office - kill limit 70
romania - time limit 25 mins

plus like a second rotation all 10 mins of
ctf space, ctf carpark, ctf romaina. and do i have to move teh fles around manually to switch
Bored of my old sig.

Please see this post about IPX http://009.web-fun.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=450.

IPX has nothing to do with the mapcycle file and how it works.

See here how the Map cycle file works http://www.009.web-fun.net/nightfire/faq.shtml#12

The information you have posted above is from NAT v1.0, this was changed in NAT v 1.1 (the slashes after the maps where the wrong way around) If you haven't upgraded already please do.

For the maxplayers you have that correct in your dedserv.bat file (+maxplayers 19 ), but also add these, +mp_timelimit 19, +mp_fraglimit 0, +ctf_capture 0.

In your server.cfg file find the lines that say;

mp_timelimit
mp_fraglimit
ctf_capture

and change them to;

//mp_timelimit
//mp_fraglimit
//ctf_capture

(this will stop Nightfire from reading the lines)

In your mapcycle file add these lines;

ctf_knox "\mp_fraglimit 50\\mp_timelimit 19\"
ctf_island "\ctf_capture 70\"
ctf_japan "\mp_timelimit 15\"
ctf_office "\mp_fraglimit 70\"
ctf_romania "\mp_timelimit 25\"
ctf_space_station "\mp_timelimit 10\"
ctf_carpark
ctf_romania

When Nightfire reads the Server files it will do them in this order, dedicated server (dedserv.bat), followed by the server.cfg file, followed by startmap.cfg, then mapcycle.txt.

If you don't use extra settings in the mapcycle.txt file, all the values are read from the server.cfg (NAT default)

If you want to make each map that loads in the mapcycle file do different things, like above, for each command that you use in the mapcycle file you have to turn it off in the server.cfg file.

From the example above. The dedserv.bat will load these values for the first map and will continue to load them for each map there after unless told other wise in the mapcycle file.

Likewise for each value, for a map, in the mapcycle file, it will continue to load the same value until it's changed again for another map in the mapcycle file.

In the example above ctf_space_station is set at 10 minutes. The maps after that, ctf_carpark and ctf_romainia, will also run for 10 minutes.

The very first map ctf_knox has a time limit of 19. If you did not put that in, when the last map in the list, ctf_romania, finishes the time limit you had previously set of 10 would carry over.

Also for the capture limit, the first map that loads will have a 0 value, as that is set in the dedserv.bat. That will not change until it reaches ctf_island in the mapcycle file, where it will change to 70 and will stay at 70 for each map that loads there after.

By the way, you say you want a 19 minutes server for every map, after that you almost change all the times :P. And do you think that ppl will capture 70 Flags in 19 minutes ??
Also a server for 19 players ?? You must have a very very good connection and good PC to host that. There are not many who can do that.
And 19 players ?? Why not 18 or 20?

A second rotation of maps, each 10 minutes ??? If you want to make a public server I can advise you not to do that. You will not get many players or they will leave fast. Give a minimum of 30 min. (at least).
Play fair and with a smile,
