I will have to discuss it with 007bond007 first as NAT all started with his CPS and he is joint owner, designer and programmer of NAT.

Oh I am not sure if I will be able to put CPS into it but I will try.

Most people don't need CPS they have anti cheat patches.

I see is the 2.0 going to be dos or code.

Mine is code I will make it 3.0 if you want.

So far we are just getting a few things written.
There is only one piece of code and for one button.

1 window with a number of buttons.
1 button that does something.
the button opens the server.cfg into the main window to be edited.

I will try to get it to sort the information and currently it just adds the contents when it should be replacing. Later I will move the button along with the others that should be made today into a new windows that opens from a button, eventually I will get the button to replace the main window with the new window and add a button that moves you back to the main window. Right now I can only do this because of a new programming club at my school which I am apart of. So the guy who made the club is helping me out. If you ask me he is a newb programmer but he still knows more than me. He is gunna bring in a book for VB one day, when? I don't know, but he says he will.

I have made alot of progress today. I have made 2 of the 6 forms (2 are extremely simple and short) I have yet to put in any code for anything, but I have made 2 of the layouts for buttons, frames and text boxes.

If I can not name it NAT v2.0 or 3.0 or w/e I will call it NDST v1.08(NightFire Dedicated Server Tool, I dunno why 1.08 I just like it better.)

i have no idea about the creation of this, but to me it seems wrong that you even consider calling your project NAT. Something that once is named by it creators should always be associated with them, not somebody else. What will happen after a while when everybody connects you with the new version of NAT? How many will conect 009 and 007bond007 to the old? Not to many I guess...

I decided on doing this a long time ago it wasn't til recently that I got the resources to do it. At the time they weren't doing any of the sort. I will include them in the "about" section of the program seeming I got the idea from them. If their's is better than the one I am making then I will gladly move over for them. But when you want to program and you have nothing to do this makes a good first project. It explores everything I will use in the future. Even if it takes me many months to complete it. Trust me if I can get this to work the way I imagine it, the program will be great.

I need an appropriate picture for a splash screen.. If there is one please notify me if there isn't could someone make one?? All I need is a nice picture that shows what the program does sort of and the word NAT. I am going to be transfering my VB progress back and forth from school and home with a usb key so I can make the forms at home and edit what everything does at school with help from a few club members.

Another reason I decided to do everything the way I am is because for the exact reason you are flaming me for. If I were to just make a program that did everything that NAT does and I called it NDST w/o talking or consulting whatever to and with the 2 creators of NAT then I would just be a copy. If I can not make a new NAT then I would no longer be a copy I would just be the maker of a program. Anyway bond and 009 will be hosting the program cause I have nowhere.

And I found what you said EXTREMELY rude. But hey that is just me.

Hi I'll keep this short as Xmas is coming up and I have less time than I normally do which isn't much. (no Santa jokes)

Sorry we have not got back to you Sagen, 007bond007 has been working very hard so we have not had a much time to discuss much, but I sent him a big e-mail today about things. There is a lot to consider here so rather than just make a few comments, we will wait until both of us have had the chance to mull this over.

About the name, I can see where you are both coming from, but at the moment all I can say is, If it's going to be just a Sagen project of course it can't be called NAT or the whole Nightfire Admin Tool. Counter Strike has 3 script editors that I know off and they are all called different names.

Either way having new ideas and files for doing things will always be good, there is not a lot of choice in NF at the moment for dedicated server support and editing game files so if players have an alternative to NAT, I can only see that as being positive for the game.

Please don't do that, it's not a competion.

Not exactly a script editor all tho that is all it can do as of now.

Anyway I sorta planned on doing what I would like it to do then I planned on giving you guys the project and form files for it.

Mine will most likely take a very very long time.

I plan on having command categories that will have info on what commands do and then it will pop a window up asking you what you wish the value to be for that command it will then search several .cfg files including "binds" "aliases" "autoexec" "server" those ones and any others that may be used I am not completely sure then it will add or replace the command and value in the appropriate .cfg

And I am sure that will take a while.

Sounds like you have changed the direction a bit with what you where originally planning to do? I have spoken to 007bond007 now and we are happy with the way things are going so your programme can't really be any relation to NAT.

NAT as a whole is an administration programme, it started out with CPS, then we added an easy way to edit the server files, then we did the same for the NUS and script files to where we are now, with the dedicated server support being the main thing with NUS short codes and the server test page.

From what I understand of what you are doing the main part of the programme will be for making scripts? I don't know if you are aware of this? but the Nightfire script code stems back to Quake. Things like Alias and Bind are used in a lot of games and many more are the same in Quake, Half life, Counter Strike, Nightfire etc. It sounds like you have hit on a real gem here if you could make it cross game compatible and have "common commands" like bind, shared commands like "slot1" and game specific commands like "flaginfo" etc. and use all this to make multitude of scripts.
