Server Hosting???

Postby Stryder{DMC} on Tue May 27, 2008 7:21 pm

i am trying my best to set up a server for other players to join by they cannot see it on the list. I'm using an XP according to the instructions i've read i need a static ip. i made an attempt at forwarding ports in my router but once i applied the changes i was logged out and everything i had changed was reset. also, the last time i made an attempt at this, i had it working for a day or so,, but once i downloaded an anti cheat patch for it everything (internet included) stopped working and i could not do anything until further assistance could reconect my internet. i was using the NAT program but im told that DSS would be better for my needs. if there is anyone who might be able to help me through this i would be very greatful. im not the most computer savy person either so a simple explanation would be nice... thankyou all

uhh.. have you already downloaded dss2?

have you ever had people join your server?

make sure youve port forwarded all the ports, and done them to the right ip..

im not sure about needing a static ip to host.. it would make sense i guess, but i think you can still host with dynamic? do you have a dynamic ip? if you do, you might have to port forward every time your ip changes.. ;S

setting up static ip-
http://portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm

portforwading (pick your router/modem in there guides, nightfire mighten be in any of the guides, so pick any program as a reference but instead use the ports (6550 UDP, 26005 UDP, 26015 UDP, 26025 UDP (For nightfire) and 26026 which is for DSS2 program) -

make sure your firewall isnt blocking nightfire whatsoever.
