Hi there,

Its offical now, the map de_dust is released for public use. The map is made by one of oldest/nicest players in nf: ~]SA[~Dynamite. de_dust is a new gametype in nightfire called: Bomb and Defuse. Here is a little explaination why Dynamite made this map and what the rules are when you are playing it:

About this map:

I am one of the oldiest nightfire player that are active. I noticed that p-jump is more and more important
to score in my favorite game.
Somtimes is the gameplay unfair, because some p-jumper's are unstoppable and one player can control the match alone.
The spirit of the teamplay-game is gone.

I searched for a way to make nightfire fair again and i found a new gameplay.

Some people knows BOMB and DEFUSE from counter-strike, the de.dust - map is one of the most played maps
in this game. Millions of gamer played this awesome stuff.
The question was, how can i make it possible for bond?

In the following weeks i have learned to create maps, my first work was ctf_egypt.
Some players knows this map.

Its nothing specially but its playable, looks nice and i wondered, why isnt this map played.
Only less times ppl joined servers with this map.
Im not sad about this, because all new maps are unvisited and unplayed also.

It seems that the bond-players needs the old stuff.
They play there and have only fun with some maps, ie. ctf_romania, ctf_casino, ctf_island,
and less deathmatch-maps.

Im bored about this and learned to use the mapping stuff to do the new awesome gametype. I created de.dust!
It needed 3 testing weeks, some tricks to map and some rule changes to the original bomb and defuse.

Rules of Bomb and Defuse

In my Bomb map there are two places to plant a bomb.
Only team PHOENIX can plant the bomb on the bomb floors "A" and "B"

PHOENIX have to activate the FLOOR with the cross on it, 3 times using the activate button.
Now all players ingame hear a message "The bomb has been planted".

Team MI6 have to defuse the bomb now. They have 1 minute defuse the bomb.
They also have to activate the bomb floor 3 times with the activate button.
If the defuseprocess finished succesfully all players hear "the bomb have been defused".

If the bomb isn't defused in that 1 minute, the bomb will explode.
Be sure that you are not to close, else you will die.

In the map are two glassboxes. Inside u found a circle and the message "Scorepoint".
The winning team have to run inside the circle to score a point.

How to score now:

1.

After the bomb explode the PHOENIX team can score.
One PHOENIX-player have to run through the scorepoint,
the glassbox opens 20 seconds after the bomb-explode.

The round starts again and PHOENIX have scored one point.

If PHOENIX wont score (tactics?) , MI6 also can score 30 seconds after the scorepoint opens.

2.

If MI6 can defuse the bomb they have won the round and can score.
The scorepoint opens and the MI6 team can score.
One MI6-player have to run through the scorepoint,
the glassbox opens 20 seconds after the bomb-explode.

The round started again and MI6 have scored one point.

If MI6 wont score (tactics?) can the PHOENIX team also score 30 seconds after the scorepoint opens.


3.

The MI6 Team have to defeat both bomb areas.
If PHOENIX cant plant the bomb, and the timelimit (4 minutes) finished,
the scorepoint opens and the MI6 team can score.
One MI6-player have to run through the scorepoint,
the glassbox opens 20 secounds after the bomb-explode.

The round started again and MI6 have scored one point.

If MI6 wont score (tactics?) can the PHOENIX team also score 30 seconds after the scorepoint opens.



Notice:

If a player dies in the match, he will respawn usually in the "outlaw-area".
Then he/she have to run through a tunnel back to the game area. It needs usually 20 seconds.
In this time the other team is in a better position.

When a match starts, all player will respawn on fixed places ,after restart (better changelevel de.dust).
So both teams have fair chanches.

After scoring, is the next bomb planting after 15 seconds, wait time possible.

In this map u can't find plates/armor and no ammunation, only ammo from died players.

This mean: no armorrun, no ammoproblem (only if u life too long :P)

The teams have different weapons. No PDW because this makes the game too easy.

Dyna invtied me yesterday to play the map a bit with him and I was really impressed. I think when people understand the gameplay this can be a totall new succesfull gameplay for NF. I hope everybody will download this map, It's worth it :grin:

Not only is the map well made and well detailed, with no bugs (that I saw), but the game play and game rules are fantasticly made. You must have worked really hard to make such a great map. Well done.


The only disadvantage I saw to this map is that even though its such a fantastic map, and so fun to play, it couldnt be used for NFBL in its current state, as the 2 minute waiting time for players to join would give MI6 a nice advantage for the first point. But as I did see your earlier model where players could move in only a small invisible box for a while before the round began, I figure you could simply put one of those (which were also awsome, by the way..) into the recent version.


Great map, great gameplay, cant wait to see more BOMB and DEFUSE maps in Nightfire. :D


And I reckon you could make the map into a normal DM map quite easily and it could easily make it into NFBL, its of a really good quality.

I finished the DUST stuff. I released the DM_DUST as deathmatch version. Its an fair basically deathmatch map and it contains all singleshot weapons. I think its a good map for NFBL so check and play it. U will have fun with it.
Finally i fixed some bugs in the de_dust map. The Comeback ways of the teams are different now, so spawnkill isnt possible there.
Both scorepoints are added in the game area. Less times the points can defeat from the loosing team now, so they have a little chance to score also.

This sounds absolutely awesome. I am a big fan of CSS and I'd love to play this map; however trying it out will have to wait as I'm right in the middle of something at the moment (sort of).

I'd love to see other maps from CS implemented into this game mode. de_nuke would be so cool but definitely a lot of work, so not to push you or anything. :wink:
